Hot tubs are best when it is a cold weather outside.

The hot tub gives you the relaxation and comfort nothing else can give.

With just around a $50 per month electricity bill, you can experience the soothing hot bath in your hot tub with great comfort.

Personally, having a soothing hot bath in my 110 V hot tub gives me the best feeling in the cold and rainy days.

You will be chilling in your hot tub while others will be stumbling with the cold.

Not everyone can have this pleasure, am I right?

Hot tubs are specially designed to give you an ever-memorable bath so you can be warm on the cold snowy days.

Getting a bath in the hot tubs not only gives you warmth but also gives you a different level of relaxation much similar to a complete body massage.

These tubs work on a simple technology.

To use a hot tub, you will need to fill water in it and heat up the tub with a high-quality heater.

The tubs heat up at a certain rate per hour, for example, a 110 V hot tub heats up at a rate of 2 degrees Fahrenheit per hour.

Once the tub is heated up to its ideal temperature, you can enjoy your bath.

The ideal or desirable level of temperature for such types of hot tub is around 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

It is not suggested to heat up the hot tub over this temperature level.

But some people like to enjoy a much hotter bath.

So, what about those folks?

Can you really override a hot tub temperature control?

The answer is yes, you can do it if you want.

One simple and non-techy trick to achieve this is by using the back key and the temperature increase key.

When your hot tub temperature is below 104 degrees Fahrenheit, you can hold the back button and keep pressing the “temperature +” option a few times.

After a few clicks, the hot tub temperature will just rise to around 106 degrees Fahrenheit.

But this trick might not work for all the hot tubs and not for every single time.

That’s why I have created this detailed guide on how you can easily override hot tub temperature control.

In the article, I will mention a few more working tricks using which you can heat up your hot bath tub over the normal temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Also, I will cover a few important points related to your hot tub heating temperature.

So, I suggest you read this article entirely to understand the topic in clear manner.

3 Main Steps to Override Temperature on a Hot Tub

If you had asked me about this a few decades back, the answer would be really tough.

The old hot tubs often had pre-set temperatures and adjusting them was really tough.

But today, it’s a cake walk.

All thanks to a rise of modern technology and the folks working on improving this hot tub technology.

In the earlier section, I have mentioned that it is possible to adjust the temperature of your hot tub or spa.

To do so, all you need to do is to use the control panel.

But how?

Well, it’s quite simple.

Now, the control panels have also become digital and contain all the information on the screen.

This has made it much easier for users to set up temperature, lock the panels, and activate jets.

But, this won’t be enough.

Below, I have mentioned few simple steps using which you can adjust the thermostat of your hot tub.

1. Find Location of Your Hot Tub Controller

Not all hot tubs are designed the same way.

Spas of different companies will have the controllers at different positions.

Usually, the spa controller is fit on the side of the hot tub so you can control it while soaking in the hot tub.

Sometimes, it is mounted on the nearby wall as well.

2. Note the Current Temperature of Your Spa

Pay attention to the current temperature of your hot tub in order to adjust the controller of your hot tub.

Once you see that temperature is increased, then you can follow the next step.

3. Use the Controller Buttons to Adjust the Temperature

Now you have the control panel in front of you.

You will see several buttons on the screen such as temp up, temp down, back, cool, warm, aux, and many more.

You can use these buttons to manipulate the control panel according to your choice.

To increase the temperature of the tub, you will need to press the Temp up, Warm, or Heat button (different companies have different option names).

Similarly, you can cool down the hot tub by clicking the Cool or the Temp down option.

Again, it is important to note that you should not heat up your spa over the temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Going over this temperature may cause you several health issues that also include heat stroke.

To understand how you can increase the hot tub temperature up to 106 degrees F in just 3 seconds, you can watch the following video.

Can I Make My Hot Tub Hotter Than 104 F?

Yes, you can make your hot tub hotter than 104 degrees Fahrenheit if you really want to.

But it may cause some health risks to your body such as heat stroke or drowsiness.

As per the UL guidelines, hot tubs do not offer water temperature heating over 104 degrees F.

However, you can use some tips and tricks to increase the temperature as suggested in this article.

But I recommend them to try these methods at your own risk.

As far as my opinion is concerned, I do not recommend you heat up your hot tub above the temperature of 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Can You Adjust the Temperature on a Hot Tub?

There is hardly anything in the world that humans cannot do.

Going with the same ideology, you can adjust the temperature on a hot tub as well.

And by the way, it’s not that difficult to do.

By adjusting the temperature of your hot tub, you can get a relaxing bath as well as save a lot of money in the form of electricity bills.

In the past, doing this was a bit difficult task.

But not today, all thanks to a modern technology and the folks working around.

Now, hot tubs often come with a digital controller using which you can monitor and control the thermostat of your hot tub as you like.

I will explain how you can increase or decrease the temperature of your hot tub using the thermostat controller in the next section.

Please note that it can be harmful to your health to soak in a hot tub having too much temperature.

As per the UL guidelines, the normal temperature of a hot tub should be a maximum of 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Anything above it can affect your health if you remain in such hot water for longer period.

The report of CPSC from 1979 mentions that excessively hot water from the hot tubs may cause drowsiness.

And this drowsiness eventually may lead to unconsciousness and drowning in the water.

Therefore, using hot tubs with over 104 degrees temperature is considered dangerous and not recommended for the health safety.

How Do You Unlock The Temperature on a Hot Tub?

You can use the hot tub control panel lock feature in the following conditions:

1. If you are the only one using the hot tub in your home.

5 Simple Steps to Do Hot Tub Temperature Sensor Testing

If you like yourself to get a soothing and relaxing bath in your hot tub then checking temperature sensor is equally important.

By regularly testing the temperature sensors of your hot tub, you make sure that the hot tub temperature levels are in under control.

Doing it at a regular interval prevents you from getting harmed and injured due to the excessively hot water temperature level.

In case you don’t know, what a hot tub temperature sensor is, then let me tell you a bit about it.

Actually, it is a tool that lets you know about the current temperature of the water in the hot tub.

It has a great impact on your health as you rely completely on its signal to soak into the water.

If the sensor is damaged, it may reflect improper water temperature that can may harm your body.

For example, if the temperature sensor of your hot tub is damaged, it may show the wrong temperature levels.

It can indicate the temperature of the water is 90 degrees Fahrenheit even if the original water temperature is above 100 degrees.

And when you step inside assuming that the water temperature is 90 degrees, you feel the water much hotter which can provide your body a shock or heat stroke.

So how do you do a hot tub temperature sensor testing?

All you need to do is follow the 5 simple steps mentioned below.

1. Shut off your spa completely using the breaker and the spa pack.

2. Set the Ohm meter to 20K testing settings.

3. Unplug the hot tub power plug from the board, ensuring there is no power at all.

4. Put your meter leads near the green and the red wire.

5. Collect the readings and compare the readings of the thermistor resistor to the temperature chart.

Usually, modern spas and hot tubs have higher hot water limits.

Temperature sensors of these hot tubs are also called as thermistors.

And the thermal cut offs of these thermistors usually have a resistance reading of around 10000 at the temperature of 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

Colder temperature reflects higher readings while hot temperature shows lower readings.

To know whether or not your hot tub temperature sensors are doing well, I recommend to refer your spa manufacturer’s temperature vs. resistance chart.

5 Easy Steps to Calibrate Hot Tub Thermostat

Another thing to check before stepping into the hot water of your hot tub is the thermostat.

It is very important that the thermostat of your hot tub must work properly.

But how will you know that?

I have mentioned 5 simple steps regarding calibrating your hot tub thermostat.

Just follow them and rest assured.

1. First, you will need to turn off the power of your hot tub.

2. Then open access to the internal plumbing of your hot tub.

3. From the heater, detach the thermostat by unscrewing a few of the screws.

4. Turn the screw adjuster in the clockwise direction for one quarter.

Doing this will increase the temperature of your hot tub.

5. Using the thermometer, you will need to check the temperature to make sure it matches the water temperature of the hot tub.

If it does not match, then turn the thermostat adjuster for one quarter one more time.

And if you still can’t find them matched, then your thermostat might be defective.

In that case, you will need to replace the old thermostat of your hot tub with the new one.
